The genre we seek out is often influenced by our interests and life passions. Those that are energised by nature or the sea may wish to bring the outside in, through their choice of artwork. Most people have a favourite colour or colours, so this is will naturally aid your search. If you have the opportunity to, then have a look at their home decor for inspiration or even the clothes they wear.
If you know the artwork is intended for a particular room this may influence the colour palette you seek out, as each colour has it's individual qualities and can enhance different spaces in an unique manner.
