About the artist
I class myself as being very fortunate in many ways, but in this context regarding my love of art. To have this passion from an early age provided me with clarity and an identity, I was the creative one and at times when I doubted myself in other areas, and there were many, this gave me a sense of security. Growing up in a creative environment, observing my Grandfather who was an artist uk, undoubtably opened my eyes to this world. Having this shared interest strengthen our bond and my family fostered the idea within in me that following your passions in life is where success truly lies.
My educational journey was similar to that of many other modern artist UK, full of exploration into different styles, mediums, techniques and disciplines, in an attempt to define my style. A necessity I no longer desire, as I feel the beauty of being a mixed media artist is the freedom from definition but desire to remain inquisitive.
I have a strong sculptural background, inspired by many artists, such as Naum Gabo and in particular his linear constructions. I believe this is reflected in my approach to my paintings, the composition of my work, the method by which I utilize the canvas surface, and the precise application of paint and it's rhythmic application.
In recent years I have become increasingly inspired by nature. The benefits of spending time in nature is widely recognised and thanks to my four legged friend it is part of my daily life. I feel recharged, refocused and inspired after our walks. The woods are my favourite place to walk on a sunny day, the trees acting as nature’s kaleidoscope, casting shadows and shapes in an abstract formation. With the ever changing landscapes, subject to light, weather and seasons, the spectrum of colours evolve offering up a unique palette and limitless inspiration.
As my artwork evolves it increasingly reflects my growing interest in colour phycology, mindfulness, positive affirmations and handwriting analysis. If you wish to be kept up to date on these developments, then why not sign up to my mailing list.
