Shop art by colour scheme...

Shopping for art can be an emotive experience. Ideally you find a painting that you instantly love, or as one of my customers said..."that makes your heart sing!"

Your emotional response is a key element that influences your decision when buying a piece of art, and this partially driven by the colour palette used within the artwork. We're all subconsciously drawn to certain colours, and much like fashion, our choice of art is often an extension and reflect of our personality and style.

We also actively seek out a particular colour scheme in many cases, when we wish to utilise a colours individual attributes to enhance a space, this is when colour psychology and colour therapy may be taken into consideration.

Here are some brief examples of how the colours in your artwork can enhance your décor...

Red colour scheme - Would be ideal for a dining area, lounge or any other social area, as it energises and stimulates conversation. With red being such a bold colour, often accents of red around the room is sufficient .

Blue colour scheme - Darker shades of blue promote clear thinking and concentration, so would suit an office environments or study. Whilst pale blues are calming and alleviate stress by lowering heart rate and blood pressure, more suited for rooms intended for relaxation.

Green colour scheme - Associated with tranquillity, slows the metabolism down and produces a calming effect. It alleviates anxiety and promotes healing.

Yellow colour scheme - The introduction of yellow to your décor energises the space and generates feelings of happiness, optimism and positivity. Vivid yellow stimulates mental activity, alertness and activates the memory, so would be beneficial in a work environment. Implementing yellow into your home or work décor subtly, through home furnishings and artwork would be wise however, to avoid overstimulation.

Orange colour scheme - Orange has the stimulus of red and cheerfulness of yellow. Invigorates appetite, communication and socialisation, so perfect for dining rooms, restaurants and bars.

Purple colour scheme -  Purple stimulates creativity and imagination, retaining an air of luxury, making purple artwork the perfect focal point of your home, such as a entrance hall. Ideal for a hotel or restaurant seeking to convey an aura of opulence.

Pink colour scheme - Light to medium shades create a sense of warmth, tranquillity and mindfulness perfect for rooms intended for relaxation such as bedrooms, bathrooms or businesses such as spas . Whereas a hot pink and fuchsia can energise a room whilst retaining the warmth and welcoming aspect, perfect for living rooms.
